A Guide to Shri Ramraj Temple, Chitahidham, Baghmara
A glimpse of the idols inside the main temples.
Besides the temple, there are other places to see and visit.
Besides the Shri Ramraj Temple, there’s a path straight ahead after entering the premises that connects to the temple and leads to the other side. There, you’ll find a small pond-like area where boating facilities are available, allowing you to enjoy a boat ride. Before you go boating, you should be aware of the boat rental charges. You’ll have to row the boat yourself, using pedals similar to those on a bicycle. The boat can only accommodate four people, and as for the fare, if you want to go boating, you’ll have to pay 150 rupees, and the ride lasts about 10 minutes. You can also book the prasad (offering) from the Shri Ramraj Temple in Baghmara online. For this, you have to make an online payment.
Around the Baghmara Shri Ramraj Temple, there are many small shops and vendors, and there are also some people whose land has been encroached upon. The local MLA, Dhullu Mahto, has been accused of this land grabbing. The person whose land was seized has filed a lawsuit against the MLA, alleging land encroachment. The land dispute is still ongoing, and news about it appears frequently. A small guesthouse has also been built next to the temple, which can be booked as per convenience. People often book the guesthouse for wedding ceremonies, and the booking charges are not very high. Many shops are set up around the temple by local people. Right in front of the temple, you’ll find shops selling offerings for the temple. Further on, you’ll find many small food stalls and shops selling items like pani puri, idli, dosa, ice cream, and small handicrafts. You can also get your picture taken there for just 50 rupees, and the photos will be printed instantly. Parking is available, but you’ll have to look after your own vehicle, as there’s no parking fee, meaning there’s no one to watch your car.
Hopefully, these facilities will be improved soon, which will reduce the risk of vehicle theft. The Shri Ramraj Temple is approximately 26 kilometers from Dhanbad railway station and about 25 kilometers from Jharia. It is 268 kilometers from Howrah railway station to Dhanbad railway station, 219 kilometers from Gaya railway station, and 319 kilometers from Patna.
